Jesus changes everything.
Luke 5:27-29— After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, and Levi got up, left everything and followed him. Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them.
Jesus calls us to leave everything and follow Him. Just like Levi the tax collector. Just like Peter and Andrew and James and John…the fishermen. We may not change vocations as we follow Jesus, but the surrender of our hearts is no less different. Jesus is worthy of everything we have…our heart, mind, and action. At HighPoint, it’s all about Jesus. We believe that life can be difficult. It can even feel impossible. But Jesus Christ can do immeasurable more than you can imagine in the midst of your impossible circumstances. Jesus CAN and DOES change everything!
You’re never too lost to be found.
Luke 15:1-6—Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” So he told them this parable: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’
We can’t outrun God’s grace. You can’t. We can’t. No one can. Thankfully, Jesus came to seek and save the lost. That’s us! There’s nothing you’ve done or could possibly do to place you outside God’s love and grace. God used murderers, drunkards, hypocrites, liars, and adulterers and loved them through their mess. We are all in a hopeless condition, in desperate need of a Savior. And Jesus is just that. A perfect King on a rescue mission to save us all from our sin. You’re NEVER too lost to be found.
Generosity is our joy.
2 Corinthians 8:7—But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge,in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
Jesus and His kingdom are worthy of everything we have. Our hearts are to be fully devoted to him. As a church family, we choose to demonstrate how worthy He is through joyful generosity. What did that look like in the scriptures? It looked like Spirit empowered, sacrificial generosity. God’s people joyfully sacrificed out of worship and mission…we are excited to do the same!
We get to do this!
Ephesians 3:20-21—Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Our church is to walk with such love for one another that it testifies to the world that Jesus really died and rose again and offers life to those who put their faith in Him. What a joy and honor it is to represent Jesus in how we love one another, serve one another, and sacrifice for one another. We don’t HAVE to be the church. We GET to be the church.
